Camping fiasco. . .and a bit of fun too.

So. . . last weekend we opted for a fun camping trip. Just Harvey & I and the dogs. We loaded the jeep (like it have never been loaded before) and set off for Cedar Mountain on Sunday morning.
(The fresh mountain air always makes DASHER turn into a horny little thing and poor TEDDY gets humped the whole time.)

We were going to camp at Deer Valley and Jerran & Meg and the kidlets were coming to join us for the evening to have dinner and hang out. Before they got there we were feeling creative (Mostly Harvey) and he made this wooden animal to hang out by the fire with us. I thought it looked like a giraffe, but everyone else that saw it said it was a horse.

When they finally arrived, The boys shot their bows and later we had some yummy dutch oven taters and ribs, and then Jerran made a campfire and we roasted marshmallows and made smores.

They were really yummy.
Meg, Jerran and the kids left at about 9:30 since they both had to work the next day and Harvey and I turned in for the night.

The next day is when the Fiasco part occured. Harvey and I went to put out a dripper for the elk. For those of you non hunters out there that means that you buy a bottle of elk urine and put it in this dripper device, which when it gets hot drips the disgusting urine out and attracts the Elk to that spot. Eww. I guess it's kind of like using perfume. :) Anyway Harvey decided to go back and also put out a salt block I guess that they like that too. I was waiting back at camp for him and when he returned we hung out and took a little nap. I heard him a little bit later swearing and opened my eyes to see him with the hood of the Jeep up and a stream of obscenities pouring out of his mouth. Apparently when he was traveling back from the spot where we had placed the dripper somehow a stick had bounced up into the fan bent the metal fan blades and they dug a deep gash in the radiator, and when he moved the fan blade all of the liquid leaked out onto the ground. (Did I mention that we were by ourselves?) It was frustrating to say the least. Our friends Camille and Brian and their kids were supposed to be coming up, but we had no way to get in touch with them, so our camping neighbors. A wonderful little old couple let us borrow their Jeep and I drove until I got reception.

I will make a really long story short now. The next morning the boys went and got a radiator which was luckily in stock in Cedar City, they fixed the Jeep and after it over heated and we got enough fluid in it we were finally able to come home!

What a trip! I am glad that we got to go though and even more glad that we got to spend time with the Hastings and the Carters. It was a good time. Harvey and I love the outdoors and spending time with each other and the dogs. We are so blessed that there are people out there that are kind, like the camping neighbors. Goes to show you that God is always watching out for us and blessing us. :)

Reunion Time. . . .

As Usual I made the quilt for the reunion this year and Mom and Lindsey helped me tie it Today. (Nettie was supposed to but got roped in to helping her sister with some things)Though the binding is not on yet you get an idea of what the finished product will be. I hope that everyone likes it.
Harvey has to work until saturday night which means that we won't be coming up until Sunday. But we are going to stay until Tuesday and our good friends Jack and Tena and their boys will be camping with us too. I am super excited. It will be a blast.
