Camping fiasco. . .and a bit of fun too.

So. . . last weekend we opted for a fun camping trip. Just Harvey & I and the dogs. We loaded the jeep (like it have never been loaded before) and set off for Cedar Mountain on Sunday morning.
(The fresh mountain air always makes DASHER turn into a horny little thing and poor TEDDY gets humped the whole time.)

We were going to camp at Deer Valley and Jerran & Meg and the kidlets were coming to join us for the evening to have dinner and hang out. Before they got there we were feeling creative (Mostly Harvey) and he made this wooden animal to hang out by the fire with us. I thought it looked like a giraffe, but everyone else that saw it said it was a horse.

When they finally arrived, The boys shot their bows and later we had some yummy dutch oven taters and ribs, and then Jerran made a campfire and we roasted marshmallows and made smores.

They were really yummy.
Meg, Jerran and the kids left at about 9:30 since they both had to work the next day and Harvey and I turned in for the night.

The next day is when the Fiasco part occured. Harvey and I went to put out a dripper for the elk. For those of you non hunters out there that means that you buy a bottle of elk urine and put it in this dripper device, which when it gets hot drips the disgusting urine out and attracts the Elk to that spot. Eww. I guess it's kind of like using perfume. :) Anyway Harvey decided to go back and also put out a salt block I guess that they like that too. I was waiting back at camp for him and when he returned we hung out and took a little nap. I heard him a little bit later swearing and opened my eyes to see him with the hood of the Jeep up and a stream of obscenities pouring out of his mouth. Apparently when he was traveling back from the spot where we had placed the dripper somehow a stick had bounced up into the fan bent the metal fan blades and they dug a deep gash in the radiator, and when he moved the fan blade all of the liquid leaked out onto the ground. (Did I mention that we were by ourselves?) It was frustrating to say the least. Our friends Camille and Brian and their kids were supposed to be coming up, but we had no way to get in touch with them, so our camping neighbors. A wonderful little old couple let us borrow their Jeep and I drove until I got reception.

I will make a really long story short now. The next morning the boys went and got a radiator which was luckily in stock in Cedar City, they fixed the Jeep and after it over heated and we got enough fluid in it we were finally able to come home!

What a trip! I am glad that we got to go though and even more glad that we got to spend time with the Hastings and the Carters. It was a good time. Harvey and I love the outdoors and spending time with each other and the dogs. We are so blessed that there are people out there that are kind, like the camping neighbors. Goes to show you that God is always watching out for us and blessing us. :)

Reunion Time. . . .

As Usual I made the quilt for the reunion this year and Mom and Lindsey helped me tie it Today. (Nettie was supposed to but got roped in to helping her sister with some things)Though the binding is not on yet you get an idea of what the finished product will be. I hope that everyone likes it.
Harvey has to work until saturday night which means that we won't be coming up until Sunday. But we are going to stay until Tuesday and our good friends Jack and Tena and their boys will be camping with us too. I am super excited. It will be a blast.

Business is. . .hard

Well Hell. . . starting your own business is no walk in the park. We have the product all figured out, but the rest of all the business crap is a little overwhelming and frankly I am lost. I hope that I can get this all fugured out soon. There are all sorts of licenses and laws that you have to know about, not to mention fuguring out how to keep track of inventory and taxes and expenses. Grrr. . .

Everything else is going well. Harvey is working again and maybe not loving it, but loving having an income.
I am still at the bank and am VERY busy. Last week I had to go to Springville for some training. I am learning consumer lending. What fun. There is so much to know.
Mom went up with me just to get away, and I think that we had a lot of fun. Though there wasn't much time for me to go bumming with her. I think that it gave her a much needed break. We also were able to stop in and see Micah and Katie. They are so adorable. I love watching them together and seeing the girls together, they are the cutest family. I am so glad that they found each other. :)

WOO HOO!

Harvey is starting back to work on MONDAY!!!! We are so happy and grateful that the day has finally come! Here is how it happened. I was sick on Tuesday, and I was laying on the couch. Harvey was taking care of me when his phone rang. He didn't know who it was but answered it anyway, and it was the company that he used to work for almost 2 years ago. They needed him to come in for a drug test so that he can come back to work!! I am super excited, and Harvey can hardly wait to get back to work! Plus Harvey found out that same day that he drew out for the Rifle hunt this year! All great news must come on Tuesdays!!

STILL ALIVE AND KICKIN

Hey all, we are still alive just don't have much time to get online.
Harvey is still job hunting and I am still pluggin along. We are really excited about getting our company logo done. We have been working on it, oh I don't know, like forever! Just getting the finishing touches done and hopefully we can start on the trademark process next week. I can hardly wait.
Harvey has been working on some art for some future designs and it looks awesome. Hopefully after we get it trademarked we can find an investor and run with it! Wish us luck!

Busy

Life is so busy, Harvey is still looking for a job. It is so hard to find anything right now. We are struggling but will hopefully get through it all. I hope really that we don't have to move.

Babies...

Here's a picture of our babies. The little white Maltese it Teddy Bear, and our little Chihuahua is Dasher. Teddy is sweet and dasher is kind of evil, but we love them both dearly.

Silly us....no we are not in Minnesota...

This is a picture of Harvey and I on Christmas Day. Harvey bought me this adorable hat when he was working in Roosevelt and he has one that matches....except not so pink. Don't we make a cute pair. They are so warm too. My Harvey is such a sweetheart. One of these days I will put more pics of the puppies on here too.

The Weekend is finally here!

Have you ever had one of those weeks that just seemed like they would never end....this was one of them. I am so happy to have a whole weekend to spend with Harvey! He isn't going out of town this weekend and we are going to relax and enjoy being able to spend some time with each other.
Tomorrow we are going to find out of the rocks that he found while detecting are meteorites and then we are going to go to a Matinee with Joe and Lisa! (Maybe dinner too) and on Sunday we will probably go detecting (if the weather permits) and just have fun!

Still Waiting...

Well here it is February and the New Year has not brought me much greatness yet. I am still in limbo waiting for the new year to bring new great things into my life! I really hope that Harvey can find work, soon. We are making it but there is not room for any extra's and we really wanted to take a real vacation this year! Oh well, I guess that we will just have to keep looking. I hope that something happens soon.

Harvey and Jack have been gold hunting, but there has been no new nuggets since that first one a few weeks ago. He thinks that he way have found a meteorite though and they are worth some money too. I hope that it all works out and something comes from these detecting trips. I really miss him when he is gone, and they usually go on the weekends.

I do really enjoy hanging out with Tena though. She is such a genuinely good person and I really like being around her. She is adorable and smart and fun to talk to.

Last night Harvey and I went to see "The Uninvited". It has an interesting twist that you may not expect, but overall not really as scary or creepy as it appeared in the previews.

Found....a husband with an obsession

That's right..... my dear husband Harvey is super obsessed with finding gold. You let the guy find a gold nugget and he gets that crazed gold fever look in his eyes and he can't talk or think about anything else. He and his friend Jack have been eating sleeping and dreaming about gold for the last month. I call myself the prospecting widow now, since it looks like he is going to be gone every weekend from now on. Maybe he will find a lot more gold and we can pay off some of our debt.

We still haven't been able to find Harvey a job. Sadly. It seems like everyday on the news more and more people are being laid off and it's a little scary. At least for now we are getting a little through unemployment benefits, but when that runs out I don't know what we will do.

Until then I will stay positive, something has to come up.

Holy Gold......

My dear husband is in Arizona with his friend Jack. They are on a quest to find gold. They pulled Jack's trailer, with the 4 wheelers, down to the Gold Basin area and went to work searching for gold nuggets! There is more to find there than just nuggets, there have also been meteorites found there and they are worth a lot of money too, but Harvey and Jack both have the "gold bug" or "the fever". So, though I think that they are both a little crazy, I am glad that they have each other to be crazy with! Harvey really enjoys spending time with Jack and I think that the feeling is mutual.
So last night at about 7:30 pm I got the call....Harvey has officially found his first gold nugget. Now there is for sure no chance that I will ever be able to pry him away from this new hobby. I am glad that he has someone to do it with though and hopefully it will actually be profitable!! I still can't believe it. He made sure to tell me that it isn't a big one, but that's OK. At least he found one. I won't get to see it until Sunday when they come home but hopefully he will come home with more than one!
I will post a pic as soon as I have one!

The Search for Gold...

So Harvey has found a new thing that he wants to do with his time, now that he is looking for a job. He wants to look for Gold....I don't know how I really feel about this, but I assume that if he actually finds some and can make us some more money, then I would be super happy. But until then I think that it's kind of a crazy idea. Perhaps something good will come of it?

The New Year...

I am thinking that the new year better start kicking in something good. I can officially say that I am glad to see '08 gone. With Harvey still unemployed and the bills not going away I am done with it all. It sure is frustrating. I guess that I will just have to have faith that something will come along. It will all work out as it always does. The waiting for it to all work out is not so fun at all.

One great thing that has happened so far in '09. One of my best friends in the whole world (who sadly lives far far away) Christi, had a brand new baby boy yesterday. He is perfect. His name is Casey and he was just over 8 lbs. I know that I won't get to see him for a few months at least, but I can't wait to see her again and meet little Casey. Congrats Christi and Charlie!!!

Harvey and I have been spending a lot of time metal detecting, and hanging out together, it's been a blast. Since we both have detectors and it's free to go, why not. It's a lot of fun. We got some of the things that we had found in the past out of storage last night. We were wanting to catalog and take pictures of them, and we couldn't believe how many really cool things there actually are! Buttons and buckles and coins and jewelry. It's amazing. I will have to put up some pictures when we get them done.

Harvey and I were planning to take a Vacation this year for our 6 year anniversary. Hopefully he will find some work and we will still be able to. We would be flying to Pennsylvania to see Harveys friends Tim and Lori and their 2 kids. Then we would go down to Maryland to see Christi and Charlie and their new baby. Followed by a drive down to Virginia to see the family that I nannied for 8 years ago, and we would metal detect all over and hopefully find some really cool relics to add to our growing collection. I hope that it all works out and we can still go. Since we never really got a real honeymoon and have never taken a vacation besides to go camping. I think that we both deserve it.

I was reading my friend Kristins blog today and she was saying that she is not making resolutions this year because chances are she won't follow through. I have to say that I officially agree. Why make resolutions when everyone just breaks them anyway. It really is a good idea to change your life for the better, but why not have April resolutions or July resolutions? Or better yet why not decide to change and not call it a resolution at all? After all resolutions were made to be broken.
